| From the Management Desk |
| Dear Readers, Welcome to the June edition of the AIL newsletter! |
June has been a month of little, but exceptional highlights. Anousha Shankar’s sitar program was an absolute sell out, described by one source as a “virtuoso performance that held the capacity crowd spellbound”. Tamil movie, Dasavatharam, was recently released, and has impressed many around the globe. Kamal Haasan features as 10 different characters, a new world record, and the movie encompasses contemporary issues such as environment, science and faith. The movie was screened in 52 theatres in Malaysia alone, and collections have been extraordinary. Finally, the AIL blog has become increasingly popular with many of our visitors voicing their opinions on significant issues facing our modern world. If you too would like to become apart of this terrific experience go to http://www.linkingpeopletogether.com/. |
The following month of July, however, is shaping up to be far more spectacular! World Youth Day will be held in Sydney, Australia from July 15-20, 2008. The event gathers thousands of young people from around the world to celebrate and learn about the Catholic faith and to build bridges of friendship and hope between continents, peoples and cultures. The cold month of winter will witness many exciting South Asian cultural shows catering for both ‘young’ and ‘old’, so keep yourself updated by checking our website. Finally, Zakir Hussain, arguably one of the greatest tabla players ever, is coming to our very own backyard. If you would like to see the maestro ‘go about his business’ at the Opera House, visit AIL for details. |
AIL would like to thank you all (including our sponsors) for your patronage and support. We are always looking for new ways to better our website and therefore your feedback and suggestions are much appreciated. Suggestions and queries can be sent to info@aussieindolanka.com |
