England fight back after Tamim fireworks

Updated - 20/3/2010 - cricinfo.com.

Tamim Iqbal clobbered 85 off 71 balls in a stunning display of stroke-making to give Bangladesh a flying start to the second Test at Dhaka. However, England hit back with three wickets to go to lunch a much-relieved side after an action-packed first morning.

Tamim sizzled from the off, taking the attack to England’s new-ball bowlers after Shakib Al Hasan opted to take first use of a flat and dry Dhaka wicket. There was nothing on offer for the fast bowlers but the audacity of Tamim’s innings left spectators and the England fielders gasping.

Having seen Tim Bresnan dispatched for 23 from his first three overs, Cook turned to Graeme Swann for calm. Recently elevated to second in the world, Swann was treated more like a third-rate club bowler.
