Sailors accused of public sex act: inquiry Updated - 12/3/2010 - abc news online.
An inquiry has heard allegations that sailors from HMAS Success were involved in a public sex act which was witnessed by several of their colleagues. Retired judge Roger Gyles QC is presiding over the inquiry, which will probe allegations of inappropriate behaviour on board HMAS Success as well as the Defence investigation of those allegations. Sanctions were imposed but not forced on three sailors over some of the claims. Counsel Assisting Douglas Campbell has told the inquiry that during 2009 there was a perceived culture on the ship of bullying, predatory behaviour and inappropriate relationships. The inquiry was told there were rumours that a bounty was placed on the head of new female members on board to see who could have sex with them first. There were also rumours that junior female sailors had ben bullied or harrassed into having sex with their senior male colleagues.
