UNSW, academics close to accord Updated - 27/7/2010 - theaustralian.com.
THE University of NSW and the academic union are close to calling a truce on their dispute that would end the union’s ban on processing student results. While National Tertiary Education Union members Tuesday voted to continue the bans, management has signalled it is prepared to give ground on maintaining maternity leave provisions for those staff with less than 12 months, opening the way for bans to be lifted. However the university’s offer is conditional on the union agreeing to a moratorium on any further industrial action during talks that would disrupt students. Management has sort a moratorium to the end of October when classes will have finished while the NTEU has offered a moratorium to the end of September. The university has also agreed to restore the pay of the 70 NTEU members implementing the bans after the union agreed to process international student results and notify failing students
