BCCI president rejects Jadeja’s pardon plea

Updated - 9/3/2010 - indiannews.

The only hope all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja had of participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL) evaporated on Sunday when the Indian cricket board (BCCI) President Shashank Manohar turned down his pardon plea.

On February 13, Jadeja was banned for not adhering to the IPL guidelines when he failed to signing a renewal contract with the Rajasthan Royals and attempted, instead, to negotiate a larger financial contract with some of the other IPL franchises.

It was only Manohar who could have overturned the suspension. And Jadeja’s case was presented to Manohar by Niranjan Shah, the IPL vice-president who also heads Jadeja’s home state body, the Saurashtra Cricket Association. The Hindustan Times learnt that Shah tried his best to convince Manohar and his colleagues in the IPL Governing Council but to no avail.
