Founder's Message

After living in Australia and Europe for more than thirty years and traveling to many parts of the world over the past two decades, I have realised that the Internet has changed the way we conduct our daily life in most parts of the world. Indeed, it has enabled us to bring communities living in many parts of the world closer than ever before! The simple reason for me to go ahead with a vision is because of the sheer size of the growing South Asians (i.e. from India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan & Bangladesh) having the internet access. One sixth of the world's population is South Asians (in particular Indians). South Asians all over the world today are wired to each other in more than one way than anyone else today.

The impact of South Asians within the subcontinent and all over the globe has been tremendous with globalisation playing its pranks. Hence there is a lot of emphasis by the west to understand the nitty gritty about the Indian sub-continent culture. If an emerging market like India is able to see thousands of its students coming over to the west either to study or work today and the growing number of large corporations in the west wanting to take advantage of the millions of ‘brain power’ in South Asia, that itself is proof of South Asianisation today. Thus my thoughts had given birth to this visionary portal “an online global home for every South Asian (i.e. Indian, Sri Lankan, Pakistani & Bangladeshi

AIL's objective is ‘linking people together'. We aim to connect people back into their culture and also energise their relations in the community. We create a bridge of information and relation from the Indian sub- continent and its Australian/New Zealand Diasporas. This idea of AussieIndoLanka is soon going to be a global phenomenon and we would like to see this portal growing from AussieIndoLanka and going global.
